DAN LEFF, Senior Operating Partner

 

Dan has experience building, leading, and restructuring global energy services, industrial automation & manufacturing, and technology & software companies.

Dan is an investor and board member in growth companies involved in the energy transition. Dan currently serves as executive chairman of Ambri, an energy storage company, and Sparkfund, an energy-as-a-service business. Dan is also a general partner of Bayard Capital Technologies, a private equity firm and prior investor in ServiceChannel, a facilities management SaaS marketplace, where he served as executive chairman and then board member through the company’s sale in 2021. In addition, Dan is an investor, and from 2018 through 2022, served as a board member of Arcadia, a clean energy marketplace for consumers, where he continues to serve on the advisory board; and an investor in Enchanted Rock, a microgrid operating platform company, where he served on the board from 2019 through 2022. Earlier, Dan was executive chairman of Viridity Energy, chief executive officer and board member of Hara Software, and an advisory partner at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, a global private equity firm. Dan is also an advisor at Breakthrough Energy Ventures, G2VP, and Bison Ventures and a senior operating partner at Broadscale Group - private equity firms involved in the energy transition.

Formerly, Dan was chief operating officer of Invensys Energy Management and co-chief operating officer of its London-based parent, Invensys plc, a global manufacturing, services, energy management and industrial automation company. Prior to Invensys, Dan served as chairman and chief executive officer of Enron Energy Services, following Enron’s bankruptcy filing, where he worked to help manage the liquidation of Enron’s retail and wholesale businesses.  

Earlier, Dan served in a variety of entrepreneurial and leadership roles focused on integrated energy services.  Prior to Enron’s bankruptcy filing, Dan was chief operating officer of Enron Energy Services, a business unit that provided energy outsourcing and commodity services to commercial and industrial clients. Dan also led the reorganization and repositioning of the parent company’s international power plant and pipeline engineering and construction business.  Formerly, Dan was president and chief executive officer of FMES, a nationwide energy services company that he co-founded and sold to Enron Energy Services. Before FMES, Dan was president and chief executive officer of Pilot Energy, a New York City-based energy services company, and earlier, he worked for United Technologies Carrier - domestically and internationally.

Dan also serves as a board member of the Trudeau Institute and Point Positive, and from 2001 to 2006, Dan was as a board member of Credit Acceptance Corporation (Nasdaq: CACC), a specialized financial services company.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York and has four children with his wife Pam of thirty-nine years.
